History & Notes:  The follow up to Magazine was recorded in the fall of 2000 in Los Angeles.  According to session logs posted on jumplittlechildren.com, the above songs were the only ones attempted.  Evan's composition Utopian Sky was started, but the band left it unfinished.

Mixing was finished in December, and the band was prepared to release Vertigo on the 8th of May, 2001.  Since Atlantic dropped J,LC's label Breaking Records,  the band scrambled to find other means of getting it out.  It was finally released on September 25, 2001 on the band's independent label EZ Chief Records.

The band worked out a deal with Atlantic Records (legal owners of their work) in order to get the rights to the Vertigo master recordings.  As part of the agreement, they gave Atlantic a new version of Dancing Virginia to release as a show of good will.  According to the Hand Picked compilation, Dancing Virginia was recorded during the Vertigo sessions*.

[*webmaster's note:  As far as I know, that's the truth.  I, however have my doubts.  It is possible that it was recorded some time in 2001 as an afterthought, giving Atlantic a Jump, Little Children track to release.  The band had been playing that song for at least seven years.  It wouldn't be too difficult to throw it together in the studio to appease them.]
